In the Somerset County Assessment Record for the years 1793-1796, Littleton Hitch was listed in Rewastico Hundred and assessed for one male/female slave age 8-14, £15; and other property, £25. Total assessment was £40, £40, £40, £40 for the years 1793, 1794, 1795, and 1796, respectively. (SoTA-1793/96)
In Levin Bounds' account of Dec 6 1795 (based upon an inventory of May 16 1795, it lists payments made to Littleton Hitch (SoAA-EB16:206, 207).
On May 23 1803, Littleton Hitch was listed as No. 204 on list of Canons of the church (Stepney Parish Vestry Minutes). On Oct 20 1804, Littleton Hitch paid £10 to John and Amelia Knipshelt, all of Somerset County, for 1 acre of land called "Pemberton's Goodwill." It was located near Littleton Dennis and Josiah Polk's mills and bounded by the road from Salisbury to Broad Creek. (SoLR-P:435)
In his will written on Jan 5 1805 and probated Feb 5 1805, Littleton Hitch grants: - to Betsy Knipshelt, after death of her mother land her father formerly owned - to Littleton Hitch Jr. £15 - to John Knipshelt, executor (he rejected administration to Kirk Gunby Feb 16 1805, testator Samuel Daly) Witnesses; Stephen W. Thorns, Samuel Rencher, Charles Dashiell (SoW-EB23:088)
On Mar 26 1805, Littleton Hitch's inventory was brought forward at $168.96 1/2 when Kirk Gunby presented his will and made an account of his estate proved Feb 12 1807. Payments to the estate included one from Samuel Rencher and one from Thomas Hitch from assignment from Thomas M. Hitch. Claimants were W. Stone, William Stone, Ebenezer Handy, James Ritchie, John Hoffman, Solomon Layfield, Charles Dashiell, Stephen Thorns, Mary James, Samuel Smyly, Samuel Kenney, James Smyth, William Lawes, William Hearn, Levin Dorman, Henry Maddux and Mary Hitch.
