Thomas Rencher wrote his will on Aug 18 1806 with a codicil on Sep 29 1806, and it was proven in Somerset Co. on Oct 15 1806 - To son John Rencher all the lands whereon I now live on Wicomico River and lying to the westward of the Wicomico land to son Thomas Rencher extending from Wicomico River to Monie Creek "my moni march excepted" - To son John that part of Monie lands lying next to Monie Creek lying next to tract "Sassafras Neck" (and describes land bounds) - To son John one feather bed and furniture and one cow and calf which he now has in his possession - To son Thomas Rencher, all that part of land by whatever name it is known a little below Haw Point and bordering county road leading down the neck then to Monie Creek west of Richard Ingersoll land and west of lands hereafter devised to daughter Sally Rencher. He also to get the middle part of my lands commonly called my Monie lands near son John's part and near "Sassafras Neck" also adjoins "Comforts Adventure" and Richard Ingersoll land - To son Thomas, land called "Middle" lying between two tracts belongng to Robert Leatherbury - To daughter Sally Rencher, land near mouth of Foskey's Gut and county raod and Wicomico River, also rest of Monie lands northward of son Thomas' land during the time she remains single, then when she marries, divide equally between she and other daughters Molly Hitch and Alice Harris and if Sally dies, then to the other two equally - To daughter Sally, one negro man Job, one negro girl Hannah one negro boy Harry, one case of drawers with furniture, one mahogany table, one bed/furniture, four head of choice cattle except oxen, four head of choice sheep, one black mare & carriage - To son Samuel Rencher, all that part of lands in Rockawalkin which I first pruchased at Sheriff's sale formerly owned by the heirs of Joshua Hitch commonly called the Quarter lands on which my son Samuel now lives, 300a of land, condition that Samuel pays son William Rencher 100 pounds current money within 3 years from my death - To son William Rencher, the rest of Rockawalkin lands, also one cow/calf and two sheep - To the whole of my children all my marsh ground on Monie Creek for privilege of a pasture - To son Samuel, one negro boy James until he arrives to age 21 then to granddaughter Eliza, daughter of Samuel - To daughter Molly Hitch, one negro woman Minty, one negro boy Sam, four head of cattle except oxen, four head of sheep, and one negro boy Adam until he arrives at age 16 then to granddaughter Betsy Hitch - To daughter Alice Harris, one negro girl Mrier, negro boy Elijah, one feather bed/furniture, four head of cattle, four head of good sheep, one negro girl Lovey until she arrives at age 16 then she to go to granddaughter Betsy Harris, daughter of William and Alice Harris. - All the rest to equally divide between my four sons John, Samuel, William and Thomas Rencher - Appoint friends Tubman Lowes and Robert Leatherbury trustees of this will Witnesses: Robert leatherbury, William Ballard, William L. Waller, Nelson Waller CODICIL Sep 29 1806 - legacies to daughter Molly Hitch and granddaughter Betsy Hitch to be revoked from original will - To granddaughter Betsy Hitch, one negro girl Minty about 8 years old - To grandsons John, Thomas and Littleton Hitch and granddaughter Sarah Hitch, negro woman Minty, negro boy Sam, negro boy Adam equally divided among them reserving use to daughter Molly Hitch during her natural life. - To daughter Sarah Rencher, 60 pounds of bacon and 15 barrels of Indian corn - Crop of Indian corn now growing to John and Thomas Rencher equally and crop of tobacco to Thomas Witnesses: Smith Sims Sr., Nelson Waller, John Jones (SoW-EB23:106)
