On Apr 10 1799, "Hitch's Hard Luck" was surveyed for John, William, Laban, Nancy and Peggy Hitch. Also for Edward Brown and wife Betsy, Joshua Pollitt and wife Sarah, William Elgate Hitch and wife Polly and Levin Handy and wife Nelly. The survey was for a new tract that included parts of tracts "High Suffolk", "Last Choice" and "Maddux's Luck" as well as tracts "Wilson's Discovery", "Hitch's Choice", and "Father's Neglect." The survey amounted to 1256 acres of land.
On Apr 13 1830, Joshua W. Hitch, with John S. Stevenson, provided sureties for orphans John R., David J., Joshua Hitch, and George H. Sturgis (all of James) where Sarah Sturgis was appointed guardian (She was apparently Sarah Hitch Pollitt Sturgis) (WoOCP-LPS7:115-116)

Sarah next married James Sturgis on 28 Dec 1819 in Worcester Co., MD.1 (James Sturgis was born in 1765-1775 in Worcester Co., MD and died 22 Mar 1828-10 Apr 1828 in Worcester Co., MD.)
