There is a William Pollitt child in this family - still out whether it is William Pollitt, age 49, listed in the 1850 District 5 Worcester County Census. The probability is high, however.
William Pollitt "Died at his residence, two miles from Salisbury, on the 18th inst., Wm. Pollitt, aged 84 years. Mr. Pollitt was at one time a companion of the renowned Davy Crockett. They lived together in Tennessee, and afterwards carried on a lengthy correspondence for many years. We note one letter from Crockett to Mr. Pollitt, inquiring the price of slaves on the Eastern Shore, saying that he would like to purchase a few. Davy was known to be a kind master." Salisbury Advertiser, Apr 2 1881.
William Poliitt wrote his will Nov 26 1877 which was probated in Wicomico Co., MD Mar 22 1881
- To wife Mary - land on the west side of a private road leading from Lazarous Johnson's to the mills formerly owned by Gestavus Schumaker and joining the land belonging to Shady Colbourn at the time of her death. Also house and lot in the part of Salisbury called Camden adjoining the lot of Scott Brewington and Elizabeth Humphreys
