In Feb 15 1840, John and Mahala Stuart, widow of Peter Stuart deceased, of the village of Concord, Sussex Co. sold for $10 to Thomas Adams, three lots in Concord; Lots 151, 152, 153 adjoining Lot 150, now in the possession of John and Mahala Stuart. (SxLR)

1850 census states he was a sailor. He is not listed in the 1860 Census with his wife and children. This indicates he probably died after 1850 and before 1860. However, his son John Michael Stuart (perhaps a junior??) was born in 1854 suggesting a death year for Capt. J.M. Stuart at c1854-59.
