On Aug 5 1812 Peter Stuart received a deed a lot of ground in the village of Concord, DE from Thomas Laws. This lot was one that Michael Stuart had paid for to Laws but had died before a deed was conveyed. Michael Stuart's will devised the lot of ground in his will to his "brother" Peter Stuart and the land transaction recorded on Aug 5 1812. On Apr 21 1815, Peter Stuart and "Mahaly" his wife sold this lot, land described as what he received via last will and testament of Michael Stuart, to John Spicer.

Peter Stuart shows in census records as follows:
1820 Census for Nanticoke Hundred, Sussex Co., DE: 301110-11110
1830 he's in Broad Creek Hundred as 0111001000000-2101010000000

1820 suggest Peter's age as head of household as 26-45 (born 1775-1794) and 1830 shows him as age 40-50 (born 1780-1790). Since Peter purchased a lot in Concord in 1812, it implies he had reached age 21 by then (born before 1791). Either way we slice it, the closest we can get to his birth year in somewhere in the 1780s.

By 1840 Peter is gone but conspicuously replaced by a female head, Mahala Stuart (Broad Creek): as household 0000100000000-0010000100000. This same Mahala is then present in 1850 in the household of her son John M. Stuart and her grandchild (of this line) Mahala Stuart. Additional proof of Peter as deceased husband of Mahala Stewart shows in the land records of Delaware where on Feb 2 1828, Peter Stuart and his wife MAHALA of Nanticoke Hundred, Sussex Co., sold land called "Johns Fancy" to Amos Stayton of Northwest Fork Hundred.

There is a land record on Feb 15 1840 between John Stuart and Mahala Stuart, widow of Peter Stuart deceased, of the village of Concord and Dr. Thomas Adams of the same place for Lots 151, 152 and 153 in Concord - Adams paid $10. John Stuart would be the son of Peter/Mahala Stuart in this case.
