John* Jones ¹

*There are two John Jones's described in John Jones's will who died in 1849 - one "my wife's daughter's son, John Jones, alias McKee" and just son John Jones. The former seems to be a son of Sarah (Reddish) Jones through a prior marriage who had a daughter who possibly married a McKee/McGee. Then John Jones adopted him as his own after he married his wife in 1797. The other son is simply John Jones, son of John and Sarah (Reddish) Jones. It is believed that the John M. Jones Jr., age 25, listed in the 1850 Census is John MCKEE/MCGEE Jones referred to in the 1849 will and John Jones, age 46, is the other John Jones (s/o John Jones) in that will. Both were sons of Sarah (Reddish) Jones.

John* married Sarah (Sally) Murrell, daughter of Michael Murrell and Mary Simms?, on 09 Oct 1821 in Somerset Co., MD.¹ (Sarah (Sally) Murrell was born on 13 Jul 1804 in Somerset Co., MD,^{1 5 6 7} died on 07 Aug 1859 in Somerset Co., MD ¹ and was buried about 10 Aug 1859 in St. Andrews Episcopal Churchyard, Princess Anne, Somerset Co., MD ¹.)
