In the will of John Jones written on May 10 1849 and probated Jun 19 1849, it bequeaths:
-To youngest son George Jones, tract of land I now live on, part of "Covington's Meadow" also a wood lot that is part of the same containing 10a with the condition that he pay, within 12 months, $100 to the respective heirs named herein and I require that he to have me buried at his own charge
-To son Thomas Jones, $20 and no more
-To daughter Ann R. Hitch, $20 and no more
-To wife's daughter's son John Jones, alias McKee, one cow and yearling, my best bed/furniture, my canoe and oyster rakes, one gun and $20 and no more
-To son Peter Jones, since he is in a more prosperous condition, and does not need my aid, $1 and no more
-To son John Jones, $20
-To son Nicholas Jones, $20 and
-Rest of my personal estate to be divided between sons John and Nicholas Jones
-Appoint son George as executor

John married Sarah Reddish, daughter of Nicholas Reddish and Nancy Ann Fitzgerald, on 07 Sep 1797 in Somerset Parish, Somerset Co., MD.¹ (Sarah Reddish was born in 1782 in Somerset Co., MD ^{2 3} and died after 1860 in Somerset Co., MD.)

John next married Elizabeth (Betsey) Reddish.
