He is listed as a ship carpenter Stepney Parish records when his son George is born Nov 8 1753. In 1783, William Jones of Great Monie owns 250a of the tract "Mannings Resolution." William Jones Sr. of Great Monie had a land resurvey done for him called "Rectified Mistake" on Jun 10 1795. It was a 479.25a resurvey of tracts "Mannings Resolution" and "Jenkins Mistake" and located in modern-day Hungary Neck near Mt. Vernon, MD.
In 1798, William Jones Sr. is listed as occupant of property owned by Levin Jones Sr. with dwelling house wood 36x20 one story 11 windows, addition to dwelling house brick 24x16 one story 2 windows, smokehouse 12x12, carriage house 20x10, hen house 9x8, brandy house 25x12 with brick cellar, turkey house 16x8. 40 perches, $650. Land ownership of "Rectified Mistake" 479a and one other tract 11a, Dwelling house wood 45x20 one story 4 windows out of repair, barn 40x20 with 10' sheds all around, 2 corn houses 20x16, quarters 28x18, quarters 16x16. 490a, $2450 and he is superintendant of Levin Jones's 25 slaves of whom 12 are age13-49. (All of these belongings were William Jones Sr.'s property before he released it to his son Levin in 1797).
