From here backwards in time was provided to me by Becky Miller the Somerset genealogist extraordinaire in January 2019.
On the 1798 Federal Direct Tax George Jones resided in Monie Hundred on 300 acres of "Covingtons Vineyard" owned by Robert Leatherbury, which was improved by a dwelling house of round logs 20 x 16, a barn 40 x 20 out of repair and a corn house 16 x 16. He evidently died suddenly c1798 and did not receive heirship of his father's and which went to his brother Levin Jones.
George married Sarah Harris about 1775 in Somerset Co., MD.
