Robert Malone first shows up in the Somerset Tax Lists in 1730 and shows for every year through 1759. His sons begin showing up beginning with John in 1752, Robert in 1754 and Peter in 1759 suggesting they turned age 15 shortly before each of those years. Most of the children have births recorded in the Stepney Parish records, however, and his marriage to Mary Harrison is listed there for Sep 1 1728. We are not sure from where Robert originated prior to coming to Somerset by 1728. Candidate locations include Prince George Co., VA, NC or the western shore of MD. More research may mete that out in the future.

On May 12 1737, John Parsons, planter, et ux. Mary Parsons sold 100a of land tract "Goddards Folly" to Robert Malone (as Maloon), planter. (SoLR-EI:150). But this same land was sold by John Malone to Robert Malone (Jr.) on Mar 15 1768 which likely implies that John, as elder son of Robert Malone (b c1700), inherited the land and was transferring it to his brother Robert Malone (b1736).

The son Robert had this land resurveyed on Nov 27 1767, for the 100a portion of "Goddards Folly" his father had purchased in 1737 and called the new tract "Malones Chance" for 115.5a. On it is listed the following improvements: 118 small peach trees, an old round log'd house 16x9, 7 small apple trees, 100 panels of old fence 7 logs high and 5 acres of cultivated land. (SoLR-D:181) Robert Malone Jr. held this land in 1783. The resurvey date might infer that the elder Robert Malone had died prior to Nov 27 1767 but we certainly know that he was deceased by Mar 15 1768.
