Sarah Hitch was indicated as a granddaughter of Thomas Rencher Sr. in his will written Aug 18 1806, Codicil; Sep 29 1806; and probated Oct 15 1806.

In her will probated on Oct 7 1862, Sally R. Byrd, wife of William R. Byrd mentioned the following: - Executor: Elizabeth T. Hitch, daughter of Thomas Hitch - to Mary Alice Rencher - to four children of my brother Thomas Hitch; Thomas B.W. Hitch, Mary E. Hitch, Ruth A. Hitch and John C.M.C. Hitch.

An accounting of Sally R. Byrd's estate was proven on Oct 24 1863 with Elizabeth T. (Hitch) Barbon as administratrix. In it, it mentions payment due Robert D. Abdel (for coffin for deceased), Dr. A.B. Slemons, Owens and Moore (for tombstones), Beauchamp Rhodes (for bricking the grave), Hugh Jackson (for bricks for the grave), Thomas J. Williams, Matthias H. Dorman (auctioneer for property), Isaac J. Cooper (appraiser), J. Humphreys, Levin J. Pollitt, Josiah Ellingsworth, William Birckhead, the Somerset Herald, Edward Fowler Jr. (for medical accounts) and William J. Byrd (deceased). The balance of the account was indicated at $882.06 and sitributed in the following manner: - Elizabeth T. Hitch; horse & carriage, silver tablespoons, bed & furniture$122.00 - Mary Alice Rencher; negro boy George Washington$100.00 - Thomas W.B. Hitch, Mary E. Hitch, Ruth A. Hitch, John C.Mc. Hitch; negroes Ann, Leah Jane, Isaac and Jenny$500.00 - Eliza I. Byrd; six silver teaspoons, bed & furniture$ 34.00 - Mary E.
