bullet  Notes:

On Aug 10 1779, Levi Smack is listed as orphan of Thomas Smack. (WoOC:071, 084) On Oct 12 1779, Levi Smack, age 13, of Thomas Smack is provided as guardian, John Walker. Sureties provided by Thomas Purnell and Rouse Fassitt. On Tuesday, Aug 10, 1779, a jury of the Orphan's Court passed presentment against Edmund Cropper for detaining Levi Smack (of Thomas). (WoOCP-1777/1800:071). On Aug 8 1780, Levi Smack, over age 14, of Thomas Smack chooses his guardian as John Walker. Sureties by John Smack Sr. and Jesse Jones.(Ibid:124)

On Jun 3 1788, Edmund Cropper (Crapper) and his wife Rebecca filed a quit-claim deed in the Worcester land records relinquishing their rights to land a 'third part' of "Conveniency" to Levi Smack. (WoLR-M:369). This seems to be Rebecca's dower 'thirds' that she obtained from her husband Thomas Smack in his LW&T who died in 1775. In that LW&T, Thomas Smack declared that his wife Rebecca would get his 'dwelling plantation' which at her death or marriage was to go to son Levi Smack. This land record of quit-claim deed formally transfers the land to Levi as it appears that Rebecca Smack had remarried to Edmond Cropper (as Crapper) by 1788 which, by law, relinquished her "thirds" dower rights from her previous husband.

In the 1790 Census, in Worcester Co., MD, Levi Smock is listed with household with 1 male over age 16, 0 under 16 and 2 females.

On Jan 11 1793, Levi Smack sold land to Joshua Townsend for 100 pounds. The land was described as that land that his father Thomas Smack left him in his will - it being part of "Yorkshire" (as Yorkshur) and part of "Conveniency" (no amount of acreage noted in the record) (WoLR-O:665)

1800 Census has Levi Smack with household as 11010-12010 in Bogerternorton Hundred, Worcester Co., MD. On Feb 8 1803, Anadasia Smack and Samuel Porter were listed as administrators of the estate of Levi Smack. (WoOCP:100)
