Not listed in the Somerset Tax Lists with father Henry to 1740 (born after 1724) - Worcester County formed in 1742. Was witness to will of Ephraim Hestler in early 1758 (at least age 21) - this would put his birth year somewhere between 1725 and 1737.
On Apr 11 1766, John Smock sold for 25 pounds to Nehemiah Cropper (as Crapper, both of Worcester), 225a of land in "Partnership" (as Pardnership) (WoLR-F:485). Also, on the same day, John Smock sold 88a of "Partnership" for 30 pounds to Thomas Smock. Beginning at the end of the 5th course of "Partnership" and running SE138, N23E92, N60W19, N7W87, N85W46, S42W136, the right line to the beginning (all distances in poles) (WoLR-F:486). On May 27 1774, Thomas Smock sold 13a of the tract "Conveniency" to John Smock (WoLR-I:427).
Thomas Smock's will was written on Jan 17 1775 and probated on Jan 30 1775. - To James Wilson 44 acres of "Partnership." - To wife Rebecca he left his dwelling plantation which at her death or marriage was to go to son Levi Smack. - At the death or marriage of Rebecca, all moveable estate was to be divided among his three children, namely, Zipporah, Isaac and Levi Smack. - Set aside 80 pounds for the purchase of a young negro man to be the property of his wife Rebecca during her widowhood, then he was to go to son Isaac Smack and, if Isaac died without heirs, the negro would transfer to Zipporah. On Jun 8 1775, Rebecca Smack, executrix of Thomas Smack, sold the remaining 44a of "Partnership" to James Wilson. It was land tract granted to John Smock Sr. in 1763 and contained 472a and John Smock Sr. converyed 88a of it to his brother Thomas Smack in 1766 who is now lately deceased. Thomas Smack lately conferred 44a to Solomon Collins and left the other 44a to James Wilson in his LW&T, the latter to pay 40 shillings per acre. Land begins at end of the third course of that part of "Partnership" John Smock Sr. deeded to Thomas Smock in 1766 then N7W 87 poles, then N85W 46 poles, S32W 136 poles then N70E 3 poles to Collins' line, then N42E 33 poles then S83E 123 poles reversing Collins' fourth course to beginning.
