On December 3, 1849, for $300, Sarepta Hitch, wife of Ezekiel Hitch, bought from John S. and Emily F. Crockett, 41¼ acres of land called "Western Fields". This record indicates that Levin Crockett is the father of Sarepta Hitch (Somerset County Land Records, Liber WP, No. 4, Folio 442)
On October 7, 1882, Sarepta Hitch sold land to son John Hitch for the simple payment of "love and affection." The land consisted of 41¼ acres called "Western Fields", the same land that Sarepta obtained by deed from John S. Crockett and wife on December 3, 1849. Witness: William H. Warren. (Wicomico County Land Records, Liber SPT No. 5, Folio 128).
In the Federal Census of 1900, Sarepta Hitch is indicated in District 1, Barren Creek, Wicomico County, Maryland ( ED110, sheet 15, line 56) in a household as follows: - Sarepta Hitch, born 6/1816 in MD - Lucy Hitch, born 12/1850 in MD - Alice Hitch, born 10/1853 in MD.
Sarepta married Ezekiel Hitch, son of Robert Hitch and Nelly Wilson, on 16 Dec 1843 in Somerset Co., MD.1 (Ezekiel Hitch was born on 25 Jul 1816 in Somerset Co., MD 2 9 10 11 12 and died on 16 Oct 1893 in Somerset Co., MD 2.)
