Francis (Frank) Hitch
On March 29, 1873, Francis Hitch bought land from Purnell Toadvine for $900. Land was described as being on the east side of the road from Spring Hill to Quantico and north side of the road from that road to Rockawalking through and by the farm of Jesse Davis. This is the same land Purnell Toadvine purchased from John W. Crisfield, part of "Anderson Land" adjoining John E. Harris land consisting of 92 acres. (Wicomico County Land Records, Liber TFJR No. 3, Folio 307). Francis married Mary Susan (Sue) Wells, daughter of Rives Chappell Wells and Julia Ann Sarah Wellons, in 1880.1 (Mary Susan (Sue) Wells was born in Nov 1853 in Suffolk, VA,9 died in 1910 in Norfolk, Norfolk Co., VA 8 and was buried in 1910 in Cedar Grove/Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk, Norfolk Co., VA 8.) |
