In the 1810 Federal Census, Robert Hitch was listed on page 291 for the Barren Creek District of Somerset County. His household was near that of Ezekiel and Curtis Hitch and Elijah Nichols and contained one male under age 10, one male age 26-45, one female under age 10, and one female age 16-26.

On November 3, 1812, Robert Hitch received a deed for land called "Point Patience" and "Mill Lott" and a mill from Curtis Hitch for $100. (Somerset County Land Records, Liber U, Folio 397).

For Sarah Bradley's will written on August 26, 1811 and probated October 26, 1813, Ezekiel, Curtis and Robert Hitch were listed as witnesses. (SoW-1800/20:194,195)

In the 1813/1814 Commissioner of the Tax Records for Somerset County, Robert Hitch is listed in the 1st Election District and taxed for 40 acres of land along with Curtis Hitch ("half mill") valued at $70.

On March 15, 1814, Thomas Humphriss, Ezekiel Hitch, Robert Hitch are bound for Thomas Humphriss as administrator with a copy of the will annexed of Curtis Hitch, deceased (Somerset Co. Bond Book, Liber EB28, page 238).

In the Commissioners of the Tax Ledger for Election District 1 in Somerset County in 1817, Robert Hitch is assessed as follows: - "Mill Lot", 9½ acres; "Ellis' Addition", "Ellis' Choice", "Great Cry?", "??", 115¼ acres all: $365 - saw mill, houses, etc.: $179 - other property: $46

Robert and Nelly Hitch were witnesses to the will of Ezekiel Bell, probated September 9, 1817 (Somerset County Wills, 1800-20, Folio 256).

On February 17, 1818, Robert Hitch paid $56.68 to Thomas Humphris, both of Somerset County, for land "Point Patience" and Mill Lott." This is land that Curtis Hitch, deceased, mentioned was to be sold per his Last Will and Testament. (Somerset County Land Records, Liber JD No. 3, Folio 195).

On March 31, 1821, Robert Hitch paid $140 to Thomas Humphreys, both of Somerset County for a 49-acre tract of land comprised of "Gravely Hill", part of "Elliss Chance", and part of "Eliss Addition". Robert Hitch was highest bidder for these lands seized on September 16, 1815 from the estate of Curtis Hitch by the Chancery Court. The tract borders the land of Ezekiel Hitch and the road to Esme M. Waller's mill from Spring Hill. The records mentions a "divisional fence" between the lands of Ezekiel Hitch and Curtis Hitch. (Somerset County Land Records, Liber JD, No. 6, Folio 393)

In her will written September 13, 1818 and probated April 23, 1822, Elizabeth Walter listed Robert Hitch as a witness, along with Caleb Kennerly and George Wilson Sr. (Somerset County Wills, 1820-37, Folio 38)

In the Commissioners of the Tax Ledger for Election District 1 in Somerset County in 1823 (Folio 192), Robert Hitch is assessed as follows: - "Mill Lot", 9½ acres; "Ellis' Addition", "Ellis' Choice", "Great Cry?", "Little Worth", 106¼ acres all; "Lot", 115 acres: $230 - ½ saw mill, 3 beds and furniture: $70 - 2 horses, yoke of steers, 4 cattle: $60 - 14 hogs, 5 sheep, other property: $31

On May 21, 1828, the Somerset County Orphans Court Proceedings state, "Orphan: George, Elizabeth Bell (of William) - Appointed Guardian: Robert Hitch - Sureties: Peter Bell, Levin D. Collier" (Somerset Co. Orphans Court Proceedings 1823-29, Folio 296)

In the Somerset County Tax Assessment Ledger for 1830, Quantico District (Folio 60), Robert Hitch assessed for the following: - "Hitches Choice", 50a; "Mill Lot", 9½a; "Ellis' Addition", Ellis' Choice, "Great Cry", "Little Worth", all 106¼a; "Gravelly Hill", 46a; "Ellis' Addition", 22½a; "Saw Mill Supply", 22½a; "Humphrey's Hook", 32a; all total 288¾a at $4: $1,155 - "Bells Conclusion", 280a; "Saw Mill Supply", 110a; "Casqua", 200a; "Casqua Wood Field", 250a; "Buck Hill", 40a; all total 880a: $4,400 -½ grist mill: $150 - House and lot in Salisbury: $600 - ½ Jonathan Waller's Mills: $1,900 - Slaves Henny (age 16), Olly (age 37): $40 - Hary (10), Daniel (8), Amy (37): $350 - Eliza( 13), Charity (11), Cloe (15): $380 - 2 horses, colt, yoke of oxen: $125 - 10 cattle, 15 hogs, 2 stills: $115 - 8 beds etc., other property: $95 TOTAL: $9,670 1833 added: -To Peter Bell for Joe (55), Mingo (57): $120 - 3 horses: $120 TOTAL: $9,910 1834 "Heirs" added: - By Noah Rider for "Casqua", 200a: $1,000 1835 added: - By Olly (dead), slaves exported, Harry: $325 - By slaves exported Daniel, Amy, Eliza: $375: - By slaves exported Charity, Cloe: $230 1836 added: - By slave Henny for James Wilson: $200 - By 1 colt (dead): $25 1838 added: - By Daniel Davis & William C. On January 11, 1831, the Somerset County Orphans Court Proceedings state, "Robert Hitch, guardian to George and Elizabeth Bell." (Somerset Co. Orphans Court Proceedings 1829-38, Folio 59)

On November 21, 1832, Robert Hitch paid $600 to Peter Bell for negroes Joe, Mingo, Oliver, Amy, Patience, Cloe, Eliza, Harry, Daniel, Jim, Jacob, Charity, Hulday and Henny. The transaction had taken place May 23, 1828, the Bill of Sale was recorded this day. (Somerset County Land Records, Liber GH, No. 6, Folio 435).

On June 25, 1833, "Levin H. Patrick and Robert Hitch to view estate of Edwin L.D., George J., and Sarah Ann E. Parker (children of Daniel, and devisee of George, deceased), in care of Joseph Leonard, William Gordy and Henry Bacon, temporary guardians." (Somerset Co. Orphans Court Proceedings 1829-38, Folio 182)

On May 5, 1834, Robert Hitch, with Levin Dashiell, Rector, he was elected Vestryman of Spring Hill Parish.
