On July 18, 1882, Robert Hitch bought land from Frank C. and Ella I. Todd for $500. The land is described as a lot in the city of Salisbury on Third Street in that part of town called California. It is the same lot that Frank C. Todd purchased of Sarah Mitchell bordering the land of Gilbert J.T. Ennis and fronting the NW side of Third Street, bordering land of George W. Parsons and Horsey Henry, deceased. (Wicomico County Land Records, Liber SPT No. 5, Folio 118).

On March 24, 1883, Robert & Nancy Hitch sold land to Robert Wilson for $224. The land was described as adjoining that of Levin Doorman, Robert Williams and Robert Hitch, near tract called "First Chance" on north side of public road from Spring Hill to Salisbury. Witness: William H. Warren Jr. (Wicomico County Land Records, Liber SPT No. 5, Folio 340).

On April 30, 1892, a mortgage was bound to Robert and Nancy Hitch by Salisbury Permanent Building and Loan Association for money advanced to buy 2 shares of stock. Collateral used was land in that part of Salisbury called California that borders the west side of Third Street. This was land conveyed to Mary A. Hitch by Robert Hitch on March 29, 1884; a lot belonging to Hosea Henry, deceased; and a lot formerly of George W. Parsons to the Robert Williams lot. (Ibid., Liber FMS8, Folio 510)

Hitch, born 4/1866 in MD - Clarence S. Hitch, born 7/1870 in MD - Jennie Ellis, born 1/1860 in MD - Ellen Hearn, born 2/1840 in MD.

In the Federal Census of 1910, Robert Hitch was indicated in a household in the City of Salisbury as follows: - Robert Hitch, age 82, widower, born in MD (parents born in MD) - Ernest B.
