Never married. From "A Hitch Orchard", by Daisy Bell Hitch Davies (1932): >>Alice Hitch and her sister Lucy conducted a florist business on her father's farm. After the death of Lucy, Alice continued the business by herself. I called on her in the summer of 1930 and visited the old graveyard on her farm. I copied dates and took snap shots. She was a pleasant, self reliant and resourceful woman living all alone except for a small pet dog.<<

On November 20, 1888. Alice Hitch received a deed from Ezekiel & Sarepta Hitch for 64 acres of land called "Mcclenal". It is same land in Barren Creek District that Ezekiel purchased from Lemuel M. Mills "excepting that part" he sold to Stephen Mills. The land adjoins that of David Hearn and Davis Phillips. (Wicomico County Land Records, Liber FMS NO. 4, Folio 270).

On March 23, 1889, Alice Hitch sold 64 acres of land for $700 to John Hitch. The land was called "Mcclenal" and the same as that she purchased from Ezekiel Hitch on November 20, 1898. (Ibid., Liber FMS NO. 4, Folio 453). Also on this date, Alice and Lucy Hitch bought 3 acres plus 10 acres of land from John Hitch. The land contained a house and lot at "the corner of Spring Hill Road and the road leading to the Crockett farm bordered by the Phillips land now farmed by Esther Dashiell" (This was the 3 acre plot). The 10 acre plot was land opposite bordered by Daniel Hearn and Albert Covington. At the death of Alice and Lucy, the land was to revert to John Hitch. (Ibid., Liber FMS NO. 4, Folio 454).

In the Federal Census of 1910, Alice Hitch is indicated in District 1, Barren Creek District, Wicomico County, Maryland (between Hebron Rd. & Salisbury Rd. [Sarepta Hitch Rd.]), in a household as follows: - Lucy Hitch, age 59, single, born in MD - Alice Hitch, age 56, single, born in MD Both parents born in Maryland for each. Both are farmers, truck & flowers.

In the Federal Census of 1920, Alice Hitch is in Wicomico County, Maryland in a household as follows: - Alice Hitch, age 66 - Lucy Hitch, age 69
