Samuel Webb Elliott
The funeral of Samuel Webb Elliott, 70 years old, of 719 Vandever Avenue who died suddenly yesterday at Newark, MD will take plave Monday afternoon. Services will be held in Trinity M.E. Church at 1 o'clock. The Rev. Charles H. Hudson, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Lombardy Cemetery. Mr. Elliott, a retired Pennsylvania Railroad freight conductor, suffered a fatal heart attack while visiting his niece at Newark. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Martha E. Elliott, two daughters Mrs Maude A. Lynch and Mrs Florence E. Bryan, both of this city; one sone Raymond A. Elliott of Fountaintown, Ind.; three sisters, Mrs Olevia E. Knox, this city; Mrs Amelia Ann Melson and Mrs Jennie Short, both of Delmar; two brothers, W. Burton and Charles A. Elliott, also of Delmar; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Entering the service of the railroad company in 1888, Mr. Elliott retired after working 26 years because of disability. He was a member of Trinity Church where he had been a class leader for a number of years and was president of the board of trustees.

Samuel married Martha Elizabeth Smack, daughter of Egbert Yousin Smack and Hannah Elizabeth Hudson, on 10 Nov 1887 in New Castle Co., DE.¹ ² (Martha Elizabeth Smack was born on 31 Dec 1868 in Berlin, Worcester Co., MD,¹² ¹³ ¹⁴ ¹⁵ ¹⁶ ¹⁷ ¹⁸ died on 10 Aug 1947 in Newark, New Castle Co., DE ¹² ¹⁹ and was buried about 13 Aug 1947 in Lombardy Cemetery, Wilmington, New Castle Co., DE.)
