In the Stepney Parish Records, it states that Anne Hitch, daughter of Joshua and Mary Hitch, married Tubman Lowes, the son of Henry and Esther Lowes.
On Apr 10 1799, "Hitch's Hard Luck" was surveyed for John, William, Laban, Nancy and Peggy Hitch. Also for Edward Brown and wife Betsy, Joshua Pollitt and wife Sarah, William Elgate Hitch and wife Polly and Levin Handy and wife Nelly. The survey was for a new tract that included parts of tracts "High Suffolk", "Last Choice" and "Maddux's Luck" as well as tracts "Wilson's Discovery", "Hitch's Choice", and "Father's Neglect." The survey amounted to 1256 acres of land. Nancy Hitch is listed in Rewastico Hundred in the Tax Commissioners Assessment of 1798-1803 for Somerset County. In it, she is assessed for three slaves under age 8 at £8, one male slave age 14-45 at £45 and other personal property at £7 for a total assessment of £60 for the years 1798 through 1803, respectively.
Ann Lowes is listed in the 1820 Somerset Co. Census as head of household with 000001-00110. Ann Lowes is continually listed as admx of the estate of Tubman Lowes through Nov 25 1823 in the Somerset Orphans Court records.
Nancy married Tubman Lowes, son of Henry Lowes Jr. and Esther Dashiell, on 11 Mar 1801 in Somerset Co., MD. (Tubman Lowes was born on 24 Sep 1764 in Stepney Parish, Somerset Co., MD and died before 12 Sep 1815 in Somerset Co., MD.)
Stepney Parish Church Records state "Anne Hitch, daughter of Joshua and Mary Hitch married Tubman Lowes, son of Henry and Esther Lowes" on Mar 11 1801.
