William Miles sonn of Henry Miles & born of Winefred his wife at Monokin ye first day of October anno Domini 1693

On Dec 5 1739 David Brown, planter, sold 100a of land, tract "Desart" to William Miles, planter. Miles also bought the 23a tract "Chance" from Brown on the same day. (SoLR-MF:119)

William Miles wrote his will Feb 27 1745/6 and it was probated Mar 19 1745/6 in Somerset Co.:
-To son William Miles, all the lands at the head of the Manokin provided he pays his brother George Miles £25, tracts, "Bears Den" 100a, "Desart" 100a and "Chance" 23a. Should he die without heirs, these to go to son Samuel Miles provided he pay his brother George £25 when he reaches age 18. All of this provisioned upon those sons "do never moleste or Disturb my son Stacy Miles & his heirs & assigns from Quietly & peaceably possessing the Plantation where I now live." Also tract "Trouble" adjacent to same of 50a. Son Stacy to get these lands if the other sons do not abide
-To son Stacy Miles, all my plantation where I now live and 50a tract "Trouble" if he pays his brother George £25 when he reaches age 18.
-To Stacy Miles, my wearing clothes and apparel and one bay mare called Mottle
-To son George, one pair of cuttin hand mill stones and one cow/yearling commonly called his
-To son Samuel, 3 cows/yearlings and all my carpenter's tools and one feather bed
-Rest of estate to be divided between my wife Mary Miles and my three children Samuel, Mary and Hanna? Miles
-Wife Mary and son Stacy to be executors.

An inventory of the estate was submitted on Feb 15 1746/7 for the amount of £108.10.8 with appraisers John Waters, Daniel Maddux (as Mudox) and greatest creditor William Miles. Nearest of kin listed were Samuel Miles and Mary Smith (MdInv-34:167)
