On May 31 1762 Hiram Reddish (of Worcester) sold 40a of tract "Castle Haven" to John Reddish "where Elizabeth Reddish now lives." (SoLR-C:126) so Elizabeth Reddish was still living at the time. On Apr 24 1762, John Reddish had 50a of land called "Plain Dealing" surveyed for him in Somerset County. It was described with improvements; 75 panels of old fence, 5 logs high, and 8a cultivated land. (SoCert:1868)
In the August Court of 1762, John Reddish petitioned to have the bonds of his land "Castle Haven" verified. Several depositions ensued including Thomas Goddard (age 74), Alexander Fullerton (age 58), and that the land bordered "Robert Crouches land." (SoJ-1760/63:174)
On Jan 21 1764, 40a of "Castle Haven" was sold by Alexander Fullerton to John Reddish [as Radish] (SoLR-C:201). On Apr 23 1764 John Reddish 50a of "Castle Haven" to Francis Cheatham [as Chittam] (Ibid-C:215). On Feb 27 1769, John Reddish had 24a of land called "Addition to Plain Dealing" surveyed for him in Somerset County.(SoCert:159) On Jul 27 1769, John Reddish had 11.25a of land called "Rich Quarter" surveyed for him in Somerset County.(SoCert:2012)
On Jan 4 1772, John Reddish, planter and wife Joanah Reddish sold 27.5a of "Plain Dealing" and 13a of "Addition to Plain Dealing" to Hieron Reddish, gemtleman for £55. (SoLR-E:171)
In 1780, John is listed in the Salisbury Battalion, Mill Creek Co., Maryland militia during the Revolution. In 1783, John Reddish held 35a of the tract "Castle Haven," (SoTA-1783) In 1783, John Reddish held 150a of the tract "Dowgate." On Jun 27 1791, John Reddish had 41.25a of land called "Plain Dealing Overpowered" surveyed for him in Somerset County. It was a resurvey of a portion of "Plain Dealing" and "Addition to Plain Dealing". and its first boundary is described as "My Lord's Creek at wading place, by old mill dam called Reddishes' Mill." (SoCert:488 unpatented)
John Reddish wrote his will on Feb 10 1789 and it was proven on Mar 1 1792 in Somerset Co., MD. - To wife Joannah, manor plantation during her widowhood or if she mary, then all be equally divided among those who have not the land - To son Hieron Reddish, my lands and should he die without heir, then to my son John Reddish and if he dies w/o heir, to my son Thomas Reddish and if he dies w/o heir, to son Benjamin Reddish - To my wife, executrix Witnesses: William Beavin, Thomas Beavin, Nicholas Reddish (SoW-EB17:201,202)
In his inventory return of Feb 27 1797, it mentions distribution of the personal estate to Thomas, Benjamin, Sally and William Reddish of 19.18.11 each. (SoInv-EB21:18)
