Sarah Fooks?
On Dec 15 1786, Sarah & William Smullen purchased from Jesse Fooks, 72a, part of "Duncastle" for 15 pounds. It is described as begininning at a marked red oak at the run of a branch that is divison between Jesse Fooks and Samuel Davis heirs and three perches from the fourth angles of afsd tract thence, S32E4; S24E14; S60E16; S35E12; S21E34; S20E14; S92; S86W59; N6.75E147; right line to beginning (WoLR-M:22). This transaction seems to show Sarah and her son purchasing the land - was Sarah, Nathaniel's wife, a nee Fooks? Possibly. Sarah married Nathaniel (of Worcester) Smullen, son of Randall Smullen Jr. and Mary* Phillips, about 1760. (Nathaniel (of Worcester) Smullen was born about 1741 in Somerset Co., MD and died in 1783-1786 in Worcester Co., MD.) |
