*Uncertain placement to parents. Needs more work but a compelling case.
Samuel Porter married a daughter of Edmund Cropper (Holland Cropper) and he died in 1799 since he gets part of that estate at the Orphan's court in 1802. It is possible one of his daughters married a Cropper and named the son Samuel Porter Cropper but she died prior Samuel Porter's will was proven in 1834.
There is an orphan Samuel Cropper where, in Feb 1826, he was age 14 on Dec 24 next (born Dec 24 1812) and put into the consent for an apprentice by his "friends". He was bound to John Burbage, a mariner, to learn that trade. Witness/surety was made by Josiah Cropper and William F. Riley. This is important because Josiah Cropper was a son of Edmund Cropper who died in 1799 and a half brother to Holland Cropper who married Samuel Porter. Was Josiah the father of Samuel P. Cropper? It doesn't appear that way because he is declared an orphan but, orphan could be that just the mother passed and the father bound the child to a trade. It is all very intriguing and worth more research but this placement for Samuel Porter Cropper is very close to being correct, if not correct already.
Samuel married Letetia (Lettie) Davis, daughter of Charles Davis and Mary (Molly) Willis, on 16 Apr 1855 in Worcester Co., MD. (Letetia (Lettie) Davis was born in Sep 1835 in Worcester Co., MD and died on 27 Jul 1917 in Worcester Co., MD.)
