In 1800, Samuel Porter is listed as head of household in Worcester Co., MD with 10010-30110 (suggesting an age of 26-45), near the household of Levi Smock. In 1810, his household contains 30001-11001 (sugesting an age of >45). These two records narrow his birth year to 1755-1765. This is confirmed in 1830 when his household is 0000100010000-1000010010000 where he is age 60-70 as is his wife.

Samuel Porter wrote his will on Jun 15 1834 and it was proven in Worcester Co., MD on Jun 27 1834:

- To little grandsons Thomas Porter and Francis Asbury Porter, $100 each to be paid by son John P. Porter in lieu of above mentioned lands and another $100 each as a second clause of my will. They to be under care of my wife during her life then to son John P. Porter and daughter Jane Porter
- To daughter Nancy Davis, wife of Edward Davis, $100
- To daughter Mary Townsend, wife of Peter Townsend, $300
- To daughter Jane W. Porter, $500, two beds/furniture/linens, one desk, oak case, cow/calf, and my horse and gig and she to have a quiet life in my dwelling house for her natural life, she also to have my Old & New Testaments and Wesley's sermons
- To wife the services of my negro boy Ezekiel until Dec 25 1835 when he shall be set free.
- Negro boys Charles and Zadoc to be free from this day forward.
