He bought land circa 1802 at Accomack Co, VA. It was in this that the land of young George Holden Jr. who died in 1780 was surveyed and parcels were sold sometime after this date. Custis Kellam bought 200 acres of tract A58.
He married Elizabeth Smith, daughter of Solomon Smith and Elizabeth 'Betsey' Outten, on 7 September 1805 at Accomack Co, VA. John Finney was the security on the M.L.B. of Custis Kellam and Elisabeth Smith.
Custis made a will on 6 March 1812. Wife Elizabeth Kellam Extr. To wife Elizabeth Kellam all my land lying below the neck road for 10 years. Sell the land and my Negro man Sampson to pay my debts. My wife cannot charge my daughter Harriet for 10 years. At 10 years 2/3 to daughter Harriet Kellam & 1/3 to wife & at wife's death the whole to my daughter. Witt: Francis Boggs Jr., Stephen Moore, John Moore, Charles Bradford & Ezekiel Smith. He died before 25 May 1812. It was on this date that his will was probated.
His estate was settled on 26 February 1816 at Accomack Co, VA. 23 Nov 1812 (Invy & Sale), 9 Feb 1816 (Audit), 26 Feb 1816 (Rec'd) - William W. Rodgers, in right of his wife Extr. Buyers: Betsy Kellam, James Kellam & Stewart Kellam. Appraisers: Stephen Moore, Levy Rodgers & Henry Parker. Named in settlement: Spencer Kellam, Negro woman Nivnia & child, girl Nancy, girl George, girl Caleb, sale of girl Lesah, hire of Negro Isaac. Auditors: William Seymour, John G. Joynes & Levin L. Joynes.
