He bought land in 1728 at tract A51, west of Melfa, Accomack Co, VA. Bennett Scarburgh sold to Peter Martin, it being next to the William Lurton part along the A52 line. Two years later Martin gave to his mother Abigail Martin, and in 1742 she gave it to her daughter Abigail Lucar (husband John) for life, after which it was to go to a granddaughter Peggy Lucar, who later married Robert Parker. In 1795 Mrs. Peggy Parker left 24 acres to her granddaughters Peggy Parker, daughter of Samuel, and Margaret Luker Hickman, the daughter of Peggy Hickman; the 12 acres balance went to another granddaughter Esther Carlisle Parker, daughter of Molly Carlisle.
He bought land in 1730 at tract A51, west of Melfa, Accomack Co, VA. Bennet and Temperance Scarburgh sold Peter Martin 149 acres of this tract, which was east of the Isaac Rodgers land and north of the John Phillips part and some Walker land.
Peter made a will on 10 May 1761 at Accomack Co, VA. To son Smith Martin plantation where I live with 100 acres. To son Peter Martin the other 50 acres adjcent Stakes Cave & Abel Savage. Wife Margaret. Daughters Ritter & Charity Martin. Bal. of estate to wife for life & then to 3 above named daughters Wife & John Earlington Exrs. Witt: John Cave, Edmund Mason, Henry Willis. Peter died before 29 September 1761 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated.
He left land in 1761 at tract A51, west of Melfa, Accomack Co, VA. Peter Martin left 100 acres of this tract to his son Smith and 50 acres to son Peter, who disappears from the records and it is believed that Smith Martin acquired it all. In 1832 Smith Martin (wife Sophia) left to his son William S. and in 1842 he (wife Rosa) left to his sons John S. and William S. Martin. In 1879 the latter (wife Susan A.) left to his brother John S. Martin. In 1891 he left to his son John W. Martin and in 1942 he (wife Louisa B.) left to the children of his two sisters: Margaret A., the wife of George C. Phillips and Alice L., the wife of L.R. Phillips.
