Capt. John Martin ¹

John witnessed a will on 22 February 1663/64 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that John Custis and John Martin witnessed the will of William Dalley. He was given power of attorney on 18 March 1666 at Accomack Co, VA. I, Dority Waters, appoint my loving friend Mr. John Martin my lawful atty for a deed of sale of 1,350 acres of land to John Wallop. He married Abigail Parker, daughter of Robert Parker and Jane Baxter, on 2 May 1671 at West Sussex, England.

In 1678 Capt. John Martin, Edmund Browne & Timothy Low were in Turkey. Capt. John Martin was named in a deposition on 2 June 1708 at Accomack Co, VA. Capt. John Martin reported that Edmund Browne, son of Devorax Browne & Tabitha his wife, born 1660 and died in Turkey in 1678, being taken in captivity, being 18 years old or thereabouts when he died. John witnessed a will on 19 February 1708/9 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that John Stanton, John Martin & Thomas Ward witnessed the will of Perry Leatherbury, wife Comfort. John was mentioned in a will on 30 January 1710/11 at Accomack Co, VA. In his will John Healy left legacies to a daughter Rachell Realy and to John Martin. John Martin and son William Healy were named Extrs

John married Abigail Parker, daughter of Robert Parker and Jane Baxter. (Abigail Parker was born on 03 Jul 1651 in Bosham, West Sussex, England and died after 1742 in Accomack Co., VA.)
