William Washburn is listed in the Middle District, Somerset Co., MD as head of a household 0000100000000-0110010001000. This may suggest William's grandfather (Reuben Washburn?) had died and his mother, age 70-80, was living in hs household. The latter is speculative.

On Aug 3 1847, William F. Washbord purchased land from Henry/Sally White for $200, 55.75a part of tract "Little Eden" adjoining the lands of Col. A.B. Bennett and Richard Jenkins. (SoLR-WP3:70). On Aug 23 1850, William F. Washburn purchased land from Polly Haws for $12.125, 5.75a that is part of tract "First Purchase" (SoLR-WP5:425). On Aug 28 1854, William H. Washburn purchased 1a of land from Isaac/Polly Anderson for $10, land that was part of "Hilman's Second Purchase" and formerly owned by John Disharoon and now to the heirs of Thomas Fooks. (SoLR-LW3:269)

On Dec 16 1854, William F. Washburn purchased land from Thomas W.H./Sally White for $80, 25a part of tract "First Purchase" originally sold to Joseph Brewington by Caleb Disharoon (SoLR-LW3:370). On Nov 13 1857, William F. Washbourn purchased land from James W. Hillman for , part of "Little Eden" adjoining his current land and the county road from Bennett's old place to the Upper Ferry, land that James W. Hillman was devised from his grandmother Sally Hillman. (SoLR-LW5:393). On Feb 22 1859, William F. Washburn and Sally his wife sold land to James Simms for $107, that part of "Little Eden" Washburn had purchased from Thomas W.H. and Sally E. White (SoLR-LW6:123)

On Nov 4 1862, William F. Washburn purchased land for $500 from Albert B./Elizabeth H. Slemons, 75a part of tract "Little Eden" or better known as Rum Bridge Swamp, devised to Albert Slemons by his father John B. Slemons, dec'd. (SoLR-LW7:489) On Jun 9 1866, William F./Henrietta Washbourn sold land to John Parsons "colored" for $10, 1a of land lying on county road from Rum Bridge to the Upper Ferry and adjoining Samuel Black, part of the land Washburn purchased from John B. Slemons heirs (SoLR-LW9:672).
