In the 1803 Tax Assessment records for Sussex County, Robert Hitch is listed in Little Creek Hundred as follows: 2 horses 1 cow and calf 1 sow and shoats 3 sheep. In the 1809 Tax Assessment records for Sussex County, Robert Hitch is listed in Little Creek Hundred as follows: 138 acres of land 1 mare and colt 1 yearling 2 cows 1 sow

In the 1810 Federal Census, Robert Hitch was listed on page 321 for the Little Creek Hundred of Sussex County. His household contained two males under age 10, one male age 10-16, one male age 16-26, one male age 26-45, three females under age 10, two females age 16-26 and one female over age 45.

On May 24 1813, Private Robert Hitch of Capt. Jonathan Waller's Co., Delaware, appears on a list of officers that have ______ the Garrison at Lewes Town commencing the 16th of March _____ number of days on duty, rations due, forage due, and _____ Listed Date:May 24 1813 Days on Duty:15 Pay: $4.80 He is also on the roll dated June 25, 1813 for $4.80. (Records at the National Archives - War of 1812)

On Dec 24 1813, Robert Hitch received a deed from Soveron Hitch. For $150, Robert Hitch received a deed from Soveron Hitch for land in Little Creek Hundred. It was described as tracts "Round Savannah" and "Hitch's Chance", the latter patented to Isaac Hitch who devised by will to sons Robert and Soveron Hitch. (SxLR-AH31:168) On Oct 7 1815, Robert Hitch received a deed from Thomas, Risdon and William Records and Joshua and Rachel Hastings. Hitch paid $500 to Records/Hastings for 94 acres of land in Little Creek Hundred called "Records Delight." (Ibid.-AI32:73)

In the 1816 Tax Assessment records for Sussex County, Robert Hitch is listed in Little Creek Hundred as follows: 232 acres of land 2 horses and 1 colt 1 steer 1 cow and 1 heifer 2 young hogs 1 sow and pigs

On May 8 1820, Robert Hitch received a deed from Joseph Ellis and Sarah his wife. For $1,400, Robert Hitch received a deed from Ellis for 216¾ acres of land in Little Creek Hundred. It was described as tracts "Records Delight" and "Stephens Addition" near the bridge over Tyaskin Branch and the road from Laurel to Spring Hill. (SxLR-AL34:598)

In the Federal Census of 1820, Robert Hitch is indicated in Little Creek Hundred, Sussex County, Delaware (page 408) in a household with two males under age 10, one male age 10-16, one male age 26-45, two females under age 10 and one female age 26-45.

On Jan 6 1821, William Moore Sr. received a deed from Robert Hitch and Betsey his wife. For $1,400, Hitch received 216¾ acres of land from Moore described as tract "Records Delight" and "Stephens Addition" on the road from Laurel to Spring Hill. (SxLR-AM35:109), Also, that same day, Robert Hitch received a deed from William Moore Sr. and Mary his wife. For $1,700, Moore received 265 acres of land from Hitch described as tract "Rich Sand" , "Round Savannah" and "Records Delight". (Ibid., Deed Book AM-35, Folio 108)

In the 1822 Tax Assessment records for Sussex County, Robert Hitch is listed in Little Creek Hundred as follows: 371¾ acres of land 1 horse 1 yoke of steers 2 cows and calves 8 shoats 1 sow and pigs 10 sheep

On Mar 7 1823, Robert Hitch received a deed from Charles W. Moore. For $250, Hitch received deed to 50 acres of land in Little Creek Hundred described as land that adjoins land that Hitch bought of William Moore Sr. This land is that bought of Isaac Hitch by Charles Moore and devised to Charles W. Moore - it bounds with tract "Hitch's Choice." (SxLR-AM35:498) On Apr 6 1825, John B. Collins and his wife Comfort sold land to Robert Hitch for $300. It was in Little Creek Hundred and known as "Round Savannah" and "Nonsense" formerly belonging to William Moore. It adjoins lands of Samuel Kinney, Elijah Kinney's heirs, Thomas Ricords heirs and John B. Collins. (Ibid.-AN36:429) On Apr 8 1826, Samuel Kinney Jr. received a deed from Robert Hitch and Betsey his wife. Kinney paid Hitch $46.55 for land in Little Creek Hundred called "Swamps Addition". (Ibid.-AP38:9) On Sep 21 1826, Robert Hitch received a deed from William Moore Jr. and Charity his wife. Hitch paid $1,200 to Moore for 221¼ acres of land (Ibid.-AP38:172) On May 9 1827, Stephen Waller received a deed from Robert Hitch and Betsey his wife. Waller paid Hitch for tracts "Round Savannah" and "Monsanse" (?). (Ibid:88)

In the 1828 Tax Assessment records for Sussex County, Robert Hitch is listed in Little Creek Hundred as follows: 630 acres of land 2 horses 1 yoke of oxen 2 cows and calves 1 yearling 2 sows and 12 shoats 11 sheep 1832: deduct 221 acres of land to Elijah Hitch 1834: deduct 86 acres of land to Samuel Kinney.

In the Federal Census of 1830, Robert Hitch is indicated in Little Creek Hundred, Sussex County, Delaware (page 129) in a household comprised of two males age 10-15, one male age 15-20, one male age 50-60, one female age 10-15, one female age 15-20 and one female age 40-50.

On Sep 23 1831, Elijah Hitch received a deed from Robert Hitch and Betsey his wife. Elijah Hitch paid Robert Hitch $1,000 for 221¼ acres of land in Little Creek Hundred called "Oak Level", "Records Delight" and others that adjoin the lands of Perry B., William and Elijah Moore. (SxLR-AT42:78)

In the 1833 Tax Assessment records for Sussex County, Robert Hitch is listed in Little Creek Hundred as follows: Undefined amount of land 2 horses 1 yoke of steers 7 head of cattle 15 head of hogs 9 head of sheep. In the 1836 Tax Assessment records for Sussex County, Robert Hitch is listed in Little Creek Hundred as follows: 212 acres of land for "mansion farm" 137½ acres of land for "old farm" 2 horses 1 yoke of steers 2 cows 1 yearling 2 shoats 1 sow and pigs 8 sheep

In the Federal Census of 1840, Robert Hitch is indicated in Little Creek Hundred, Sussex County, Delaware (page 459) with the following household: one male age 15-20, one male age 30-40, one male age 60-70, two females under age 5, one female age 15-20 and one female age 20-30.

In the 1840 Tax Assessment records for Sussex County, Robert Hitch is listed in Little Creek Hundred as follows: 1 horse 1 old horse 1 yoke of steers 2 cows 2 yearlings 3 shoats 1 sow and pigs 5 sheep 1841: add 349½ acres of land

Robert Hitch's will was written on Oct 31 1844 as follows (SxW-A76:195):
I Robert Hitch of Sussex County and State of Delaware do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament.
First: I give to my son Elijah Hitch all my right, title, claim and Interest to a carriage which my said son Elijah and myself owns in partnership; also my wheat fan and also, one third of my bees and bee guns(?). Second: I give to my son Joseph Hitch the sum of three Hundred Dollars, to be paid to him or his heirs, out of my personal Estate by my Executors herein After named within two years after my Decease; and if paid with in two years as aforesaid to be clear of Interest, If not paid in two years next after my Decease to draw Interest from the expiration of ^the^ aforesaid two years. Third: I give and Devise unto my Daughter Sally Smith wife of Henry Smith, and my son Benjamin Hitch, and my land with all the improvements thereon situate in Little Creek Hundred in the County and State aforesaid, to be Equally divided between them, their heirs and assigns forever. Also I give to my said Daughter Sally Smith and my said son Benjamin Hitch, all the rest, residue and remainder of my Personal Estate, after the afresaid lgacies are paid, consisting of corn ^and^ fodder, household - frniture, farming utentials; and all other property which I may possess at the time of my Decease. And I do hereby nominate and appoint my son in law Henry Smith, and my son Benjamin Hitch Executors of this my last Will and Testament: In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal, the thirty first day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight Hundred and forty four.
