bullet  Notes:

NOTE: Sovereign Hitch, son of Spencer, can be easily confused with Severn Hitch, son of Isaac, as both were contemporaries. The former, however, lived in Northwest Fork Hundred and the latter in Little Creek Hundred, Sussex County, DE.

In the 1803 Tax Assessment records for Sussex County, "Severon" Hitch is listed in Little Creek Hundred for his own person and no property. He was not listed in the 1801 assessment - this suggests a birth year of 1781/1782. In the 1809 Tax Assessment records for Sussex County, "Severon" Hitch is listed in Little Creek Hundred with the following: 1 mare

On Dec 24 1813, Robert Hitch received a deed from Soveron Hitch. For $150, Robert Hitch received a deed from Soveron Hitch for land in Little Creek Hundred. It was described as tracts "Round Savannah" and "Hitch's Chance", the latter patented to Isaac Hitch who devised by will to sons Robert and Soveron Hitch. (SxLR-AH31:168)

In the 1816 Tax Assessment records for Sussex County, Severn Hitch is listed in Little Creek Hundred for his own person and no property.

On Jan 25 1822, John Linch "of Michael" received a deed from Grace and Priscilla Linch and Severn Hitch and Goodie his wife for $10 each for land in Little Creek Hundred. It was described as tracts "Friends Advise" and "Good Such" on the west side of the main road from Broad Creek to Salisbury. (SxLR-AM35:421)

In the 1822 Tax Assessment records for Sussex County, "Sovern" Hitch is listed in Little Creek Hundred with the following: 1 sow 3 shoats 4 sheep. In the 1828 Tax Assessment records for Sussex County, Severn Hitch is listed in Little Creek Hundred with the following: 1 yearling 4 sheep. Severn Hitch was not listed again in the tax records.

In 1830, Sovern Hitch is listed in Little Creek Hundred, Sussex Co., DE in household as 1212001000000-2010110000000
