In the "Laurensville Herald" for August 24, 1846, it states, "Died on the 6th, 8 miles northeast of Laurens, Mrs. Nancy Hitch, wife of W.W. Hitch, Esq. in the 45th year of her age. Member of the Presbyterian Church, leaves husband, three daughters and three sons. She was Presbyterian Church member for 23 years. Nancy married William Winder Hitch, son of John Hitch and Katherine Hanna, on 13 Feb 1823.1 2 (William Winder Hitch was born on 22 Mar 1802 in Laurens Co., SC,2 4 7 8 9 10 died on 09 Jun 1870 in Panola Co., MS 2 8 and was buried about 12 Jun 1870 in Chapeltown Cemetery, Batesville, Panola Co., MS 8.)
