On Jun 28 1776 106a of the tract DUMFRIES was sold by James Townsend, son of Solomon Townsend, et ux. Rebecca Townsend to Joshua Dryden [as Dreadon] (of Somerset) (WoLR-K:012)
Joshua Dryden (as Dredden) wrote his will on Aug 9 1785 and it was proven in Worcester Co., MD on Aug 26 1785 as: - To wife Sarah Dryden: one-third of personal estate and benefit of lands until two sons Isaac & William are of age. - To sons Isaac Dryden and William Dryden: all lands equally divided and Isaac get first choice. - To son Joshua Dryden: all movable estate and Isaac/William's lands if they die. Executor: wife Sarah Dryden. Witnesses: William Cottingham, Wilson Brown, William McCuddy. (WoW-JW13:049). An inventory of his estate was conducted Nov 5 1785 for £84.6.8 (nearest of kin were Elias Benston and Samuel Dryden, with creditors the same Benston and Samuel Handy) and approved Nov 2 1787 shows that William McDaniel and Sarah his wife as administrators (Sarah Dryden was not married Nov 25 1785 but had remarried by Nov 2 1787).
