-- Elmer E. Brown of Bloomington died in St. Joseph's hospital at 11:30 p.m. following a stroke that he suffered six weeks ago. Mr. Brown was born December 22, 1865, at Lacon, a son of John and Mary Jane Brown, Marshall county pioneers. He was the sole survivor of a family of twelve. He married Ellen Jane Hitch, daughter of Edward and Leah Hitch, November 20, 1888, at El Paso and they began housekeeping at Forrest. In 1890 they moved to the farm where he was born and continued farming in the vicinities of Lacon, El Paso, Gridley, Heyworth and Secor until eleven years ago when they retired to Bloomington. At the age of 18 he joined the Christian church in Toluca and had remained affiliated with that denomination. His widow, a son Jesse, and five grand children, all of Bloomington, survive. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from the home in charge of Rev. Osceola McNeman of Hudson. Mrs. Orlena Hitch, Harry and Miss Josie, Harry Malcom and family and Jesse Malcom and family were among those who attended.
