Nov 24, 1888, "El Paso Journal", No. 31. Under "Locals" on page 7 of the El Paso news. Married, at the residence of the bride's father, Edward Hitch, on Tuesday evening at six o'clock, Mr. Elmer Brown and Miss Ellen Hitch. Rev. A. J. Herries, of the Presbyterian church officiated. The happy couple will reside in Forrest, this state.

Obituary of Ellen Jane Brown from the "Peoria Journal", Friday, Feb 28, 1947, page 8. Also found, with identical words, in the "Peoria Star", Saturday, March 1, 1947, page 3. Mrs. Ellen Brown Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen Hitch Brown of East Peoria, who died at 10 a.m. yesterday, will be held at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow in the Otto Vincent memorial home in El Paso. The Rev. C. A. Graves will officiate, and interment will be in Park Hill cemetery in Bloomington. Friends may call at the memorial home until the time of services. Mrs. Brown was born at Hall [sic], England Oct. 4, 1865, a daughter of Edward and Leah Coe Hitch, and came to America with her parents at the age of 5. She married Elmer E. Brown in El Paso Nov 20, 1888, and he died Oct 22., 1935. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Christian church. Surviving are a son, Jesse Brown, Oakwood Ave., Highway Village and five grandchildren.
