The will of George Hitch Rencher was written on Dec 7 1856 and probated Jan 27 1857 and mentions the following:
- To wife Mary R. Rencher, the plantation on which I now dwell for her widowhood then to nephew Thaddeus Rencher and John T. Waller's three sons William Thomas, Charles Nelson, and John Francis Waller as described in the will - appoint Francis Miles & John H. Griffin to divide the land
-To my negroes 50a of land on south side of county road joining William H. Jones land and General George Handy's during their natural lives and then to Thaddeus Rencher and John T. Waller's children
-To Lewis McGrath Sr. 40a of land including house and lot on south side of county road and across from my plantation where I now live with the privilege of cutting log timber and firewood which is to be gum and maple.
-To wife Mary R. Rencher said negroes Caleb, Levin, Sarah and Jim Harris and negro girl Sarah Jane until she arrives at the age of 21 then she shall go free.
-To wife Mary R. Rencher all of my household and kitchen furniture, 300 weight of pork, 60 lbs of lard, and all the soap and 150 bushels of corn, 10 stacks of fodder, my four wheel carriage, Sorrel horse, one yoke of oxen, one wain cart, two cows, 10 head of hogs, one clock and all my earthenware, all the fowl, one plough, one harrow and harness, one shovel, one pitchfork, one spade.
-To all my remaining negroes to be freed that are age 21 and those not age 21 to be freed when they reach that age
-To John Griffin's daughter, Mary L.C. Griffin, $150
-To Thomas Hitch's daughter, Mary Ellen Hitch, $150
-Rest of my estate to nephews Thaddeus Rencher and John T. Waller equally
-Negro boy George to John T. Waller, Negro boy Bill to Thaddeus Rencher, Negro Boy John to Mary A. Hitch, Negro boy Jim to William T. Waller, Negro boy Saul to Charles N. Waller untio they shall arrive at age 21 at which time they are to go free
-wife Mary R. Rencher and John H. Griffin as executors
