I wrote this before Aug 23 2000: "This maiden name suggested by Delaware Land records. - No Proof yet. Also, circumstantial evidence - Robert R. Hitch may be Robert ROSS Hitch after Nancy's brother and Clement R. Hitch may be named after Nancy's father Clement Ross." However, on Aug 23 2000, I visited the Chillicothe, Ross County, OH area and hooked up with Mr. and Mrs. William F. Hitch. He has the original bible of William and Nancy Hitch published in 1833. In it is the following inscription, "William Hitch and Nancy Ross was married May 9th day in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven 1811." This was proof I thought I might never get!
Nancy married William Hitch, son of Spencer Hitch and Sophia (?), on 09 May 1811 in Sussex Co., DE.1 (William Hitch was born on 31 Mar 1788 in Sussex Co., DE,9 10 11 12 13 died on 08 Jun 1871 in Ross Co., OH 8 14 and was buried about 11 Jun 1871 in Browns Chapel Cemetery, Ross Co., OH 2.)
