*Speculative connection that Thomas Whayland's father was this William Whayland though the latter is the earliest Whayland in Somerset Co. when he died in late 1785 or early 1786.
This compiler has yet to figure out from where William Whayland came though it seems likely to be Dorchester Co., MD. There is no record of him in the Somerset Tax Lists that are extant to 1759.
An account of William Whelan by his executrix Jane Whelan was passed on Feb 28 1786 in the Orphan's Court of Somerset County. (SoOCP-1777/92:81)
