*James may not be a son of Edward Cannon but is likely as he appears to be a brother of MAJ Thomas Cannon.

James Cannon had the tract CANNONS CHANCE surveyed for him (Dorchester survey) on Jun 28 1688 for 300a "on N side of Nanticoke R. by River side at mouth of Muddy Creek." He received a patent for it on Feb 25 1689. In the modern day, this tract is on the Nanticoke River SW of Seaford, at the Woodland Ferry in Sussex Co., DE. He also had an adjacent tract called SPRING HILL surveyed Oct 8 1718 for 40a and it was patented Jul 1 1723.

He also had the tract ICHFORD surveyed and patented in May 1696 for 112a a couple miles NNW of Seaford.

James Cannon had the tract CANNONS INCREASE surveyed for him (Dorchester survey) on Mar 28 1710 for 200a "on N side of River, in edge of bank near the line and lowermost bounded tree of NOBLE QUARTER." He received a patent for it on Oct 10 1713. In the modern day, this tract is on the Nanticoke River and part of downtown Seaford. He had another tract called FRIENDSHIP surveyed for 100a on Nov 29 1722 and it was patented Jul 5 1726. This one is between Reliance and Seaford on the modern day map just around a mile to the north of the road between the two.
