This Thomas Lokey/Lackey could be son of Thomas (born c1713), Alexander (born bef 1708) or John (born c1709). Thomas or Alexander are the likely candidates as they are the only Heads listed in the Somerset Tax lists for 1739-1740 about the time this Thomas would have been born (c 1740-1745). This compiler currently favors Thomas born c1713 given children's names and accepted naming conventions at the time (that alone is very weak evidence, however).

On Dec 16 1773, Thomas Lokey had "Lokeys Chance" surveyed for him in Worcester Co., MD, it was not patented until Sep 20 1791. He gave a certificate to John W. Sirman to have surveyed "Hardship" for Sirman on Nov 19 1794 but he never patented it. In the 1880s, the land was disputed by "Sirman and Malone" and there were several court filings: (a) petition of Sirman and Malone, supported by (b) 06 Sep 1884 deposition of John Lokey (age 72), brother of Isaac Lokey - Samuel Lokey conveyed HARDSHIP to Isaac Lokey "upwards of 50 yrs" prior to this date; (c) 14 Feb 1883 deposition of Priscilla A. Ennis and Sarah Layfield that Isaac Lokey was son of Samuel Lokey - Isaac died c1860 (sic), leaving children: James Lokey, Henry Lokey, Henrietta Lokey and Sallie Lokey, all of whom are now dead save James Lokey and Henry Lokey - Henrietta Lokey and Sallie Lokey died intestate without children, James and Henry are only living descendants of Isaac Lokey; (d) several conveyances.

On Apr 14 1804, Matthew Dorman Sr. and Jr. sold 25a of land to Thomas Lokey for 50 pounds, in "Dormans Choice" (WoLR-W:363). On Nov 2 1811, Thomas Lokey Sr. sold land in "Lokeys Chance", "Safeguard" and "Dormans Choice" to Samuel Lokey for $200 (WoLR-AC:259).

There are two Thomas Loakey's listed in the 1800 and 1810 Censuses, both in Worcester Co., MD:
In 1800, we have
- Thomas Loakey Jr. with household as 10011-00001
- Thomas Loakey Sr. with household as 02210-00001 they are next to each other in the listings and also, Benjamin Loakey with Ephraim Smullen sandwiched in-between. It almost looks like the census taker tabulated them in reverse (Jr./Sr. should be flipped as an elder male is listed in the former's household)

In 1810, we have
- Thomas Loakey Jr. with household as 11001-10010 near Smullen and Driskell households
- Thomas Loakey with household as 00001-00001 near the Pusey, Purnell, Smullens and others, and next to Samuel Loakey.
