Filbert Martin Hitch
Obituary, Salisbury Times (Salisbury, Maryland) April 9, 1962: Filbert M. Hitch, Surveyor, Is Dead. Funeral services for Filbert Martin Hitch, 52, a land surveyor of W. College Ave., will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. in St. Peter's Episcopal Church. The Rev. Dr. Robert P. Varley, rector, will officiate. Interment will be in Parsons Cemetery. Mr. Hitch died Saturday in his home following a prolonged illness. He was past president and a charter member of the Exchange Club of Salisbury. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Hitch was in the Seabees of the Navy and was a naval chief petty officer stationed in the South Pacific. Prior to the war, he was employed in the engineering department of City Hall. In 1945 he went into business as a land surveyor. He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Dallas Hitch of Salisbury; a sister, Mrs. Donal Hyland of Dewey Beach and a niece and a nephew. The family suggests as a tribute to the memory of the deceased that contributions be made to the cancer fund.
Filbert married Elisabeth W. Dallas, daughter of Judge David Hugh Dallas and Jane Stewart (Jennie) Ardis, on 28 Feb 1935.1 (Elisabeth W.
