From "A Hitch Orchard", Daisy Hitch Davies: Gaylord Hitch was a dentist residing in Laurel, DE. where I called on him in summer of 1930. I found him a cordial and very pleasant, helpful man. It was he who gave data for his immediate family.

In the Federal Census of 1910, Gaylord A. Hitch is listed in a household in Laurel, Sussex County, Delaware as follows: - Gaylord A. Hitch, age 33, married 8 years, born in DE (parents born in DE) - Helen F. Hitch, age 36, born in DE (parents born in PA) - Imogene Hitch, age 5, born in DE - Filbert M. Hitch, age 2 months born in DE.

In the Federal Census of 1920, Gaylord A. Hitch is listed in a household in Sussex County, Delaware as follows: - Gaylord A. Hitch, age 43, born in DE - Helen F. Hitch, age 46, born in PA - Emogene F. Hitch, age 14, born in DE - Filbert M. Hitch, age 10, born in DE.

Gayl Hyland told me Gaylord Hitch shot and killed himself in 1930 after suffering stock market losses. In examing his death certificate, it states, "suicide with shotgun in the cellar of his house."
