Ephraim A. Denston
- Born: Abt 1800, Somerset Co., MD
- Marriage (1): Eleanor R. Banks on 11 Mar 1837 in Somerset Co., MD
It is about this generation and the one before for this Denston line that the surname changes to DENSON.
On Nov 24 1838, John Whayland and Ephraim A. Denson pay $200 to purchase 54a of "Little Belain" from Isaac/Mary Anderson (SoLR-LH:22). On Oct 11 1839, Ephraim Denson purchases 70a of land in "Little Belain" from John/Lucinda E.Whayland for $500. It is described as land formerly belonginh to Joseph Rey and descended to his grandchildren Mary Anne and Henry & Eleanor (as Ellendor) Banks. It borders Salathiel Griffin and Fountain B. Humphreys land and that of Levin Morris (SoLR-LH:192). On Oct 24 1839, Ephraim A./Eleanor Denson, heirs at law of Henry Banks Sr., deceased, sold land to Hetty Banks for $100 all the 3/7ths of land Henry Banks seized from his father at his death. It mentions Henry Banks Sr.'s children from 1st marriage as Henry, Mary Ann and Eleanor and that, Henry Banks of Henry Jr., died without heir and that Mary Anne had married John Whayland and also died without heir and finally that Eleanor Banks married Ephraim Denson (hence the 3/7ths land share). (SoLR-LH:197).
Ephraim married Eleanor R. Banks, daughter of Henry Banks Jr. and Elizabeth (Betsy) Ray, on 11 Mar 1837 in Somerset Co., MD. (Eleanor R. Banks was born about 1815 in Somerset Co., MD.)
