John Pulaski Templeton
John P. Templeton (1839-1911) was born in Laurens County. He enlisted at Laurens Courthouse on Apr 14 1861 for 12 months with Company G, 3rd South Carolina Infantry and then re-enlisted on May 13 1862 for 2 years. The muster records show that he was sick in a hospital in Richmond, VA with typhoid fever and pneumonia on Jan 12 1862 and returned to duty Mar 24 1862. On Jun 29 1862, he was wounded casualty in a battle near Richmond. He was wounded again at the Battle of Chancellorsville on May 3 1863 and sent to the hospital and then furloughed home where he stayed until about January 1864. He reenlisted yet again on Mar 2 1864 for three years. John married Amelia S. Barksdale in 1868. (Amelia S. Barksdale was born on 16 Dec 1845 in SC,5 6 died on 02 Apr 1904 in Shelby Co., TN and was buried about 05 Apr 1904 in Embury UM Cemetery, Shelby Co., TN.) |
