From "A Hitch Orchard," Daisy Hitch Davies, 1931: "He is short and stocky, almost identical to his brother Morton in size. He bemoans the fact that he was too young during the war to get into service. Three brothers were serving and they were his idols for the time. Once he wrote me, "Allen, it just seems that I was born too late to be of any use in this world." It is easy to see why he did join the Navy just as soon as he was old enough to get in. His enlistment was an interesting one. He served on the U.S.S. Oklahoma and among the many places he visited were the Panama Canal and Lima, Peru.

He is now (1931) a member of the firm of HITCH BROTHERS, Princeton, IN."

Austin married Rhea Allman.

Austin next married Adele Reynolds, daughter of John Reynolds and Ella Wallace. (Adele Reynolds was born in 1903,3 died on 07 Jul 1938 in Evansville, Vanderburgh Co., IN 3 4 and was buried about 10 Jul 1938 in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Princeton, Gibson Co., IN.)

Austin next married Alberta C. (?).
