Theodore Roosevelt (Ted) Hitch
From "A Hitch Orchard," Daisy Hitch Davies, 1931: "Ted" is a big, strapping fellow, 5 feet, eleven and one half inches. He weighs 190 pounds and has not an ounce of fat. He was only 14 when he joined the Navy but he was big for his age and never suspected of being so young. He distinguished himself in the World War and after it was ended, worked with his brother Allen in the oil business in Wisconsin and with HITCH BROTHERS in the meat business in Indiana. He later acquired an interest in the latter firm which he still holds. Theodore married Hettie Ann Pharis, daughter of Robert Crittenton Pharis and Queen Smith Elliott, between 1921 and 1927. (Hettie Ann Pharis was born on 23 Sep 1900,8 died on 27 Dec 1989 in Evansville, Vanderburgh Co., IN 6 7 and was buried about 30 Dec 1989 in IOOF Cemetery, Princeton, Gibson Co., IN.) |
