On Aug 10 1790, Thomas Whaland was named guardian to orphan George Stevens Kibble of George, over age 14. Sureties by John Evans of John and Peter Malone, (SoOCP-1777/92:095)
Two George Kibbles were living in 1798/1800. It seems that one went by George Stevens Kibble while the other was simply George Kibble. It is unclear how they relate but probably cousins and the former was no doubt s/o George of William with the Stevens middle name coming from the maiden name of Hannah, wife of William Kibble.
In the Federal Direct Tax of 1798, George Stevens (also Stephens) Kibble is also listed as owner/occupant of a house and 90 acres of land adjoining Lowes Point on Wicomico Creek near the mouth and 75 acres adjoining Thos. Collins land; 165a; $800. Very old dwelling house of wood 32x18, 1 story, 4 windows; 80 perches; $105. He is also listed as occupying land of William Collins, a minor, on Wicomico Creek, 1/2 marsh, 63 acres 40 perches; $300. He is indicated to own 9 slaves of which 4 are of taxable age (13-49).
The Whayland/Insley/Kibble Ledger states George S. Kibble's death, "George Stevens Kibble Deseast This Life Sept 19 --- 1800 of our Lord Anodo ------ he Bed a dew to Thifs World in peas To Mount The Worlds on high To on hifs Dead Redemers Besest"
An account of his estate was proven Apr 15 1801 with Polly Kibble as Admin and next of kin George Kibble and John Morris. Creditors were William Bounds and Philip Beauchamp. (SoAA-EB25:048)
George married Mary (Polly) Whayland, daughter of Thomas Whayland and Mary (?), on 22 Apr 1793 in Somerset Co., MD.1 (Mary (Polly) Whayland was born on 30 Mar 1775 in Somerset Co., MD 1 and died after 1820 in Somerset Co., MD.)
