Sarah is the daughter of John Phillips and Elizabeth Furniss. On 5 February 1766 John Phillips, executor of John Phillips, dec'd, distributed the estate to Elizabeth Phillips, Grace Phillips, Nathaniel Smullen in right of his wife; Pierce Riggin in right of his wife; William Sullivan in right of his wife; legacy of one shilling to William Lafield; to Elizabeth Phillips, widow of dec'd, a 7th part.
Look up John Phillips patented the following tracts in Somerset County: Privilege (50 a.) on 10 Aug 1753; Phillips' Conclusion (439 a.) on 7 Oct 1775. (MPL GS2:322; BC4:51; BC51:188; BC52:55). He also names in his will grandson Nathaniel Smulling 50 acres of Wolf Pitt Ridge.
John Phillips' father was also a John and the father is somehow related to a Richard Phillips. The inventory of the estate of John Phillips was appraised at £45.12.14 by John Jones and James Caldwell, signed by next of kin Richard and Thomas Phillips and filed on 20 November 1745 by administratrix Susanna Phillips (31:331)
Sarah married Nathaniel Smullen, son of Randall Smullen Sr. and Sarah Harris, about 1762 in Somerset Co., MD. (Nathaniel Smullen was born in 1719 in Somerset Co., MD and died after 1781 in Somerset Co., MD.)
