Henry Wesley Jones ¹

He was driving a car and crossed the railroad tracks in Eden, MD Aug 14 1922 when it was struck. The impact killed all four of his daughters.

Henry W. Jones - Henry Wesley Jones, 70, a farmer, died at his home in Eden early this morning. He had been in poor health about six years. He was born in Eden, son of the late E. Wesley Jones and Indiana Hopkins Jones. He was the husband of Mrs. Ruby P. Jones. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Melvin Henry Jones of Eden and three grandchildren. Four sisters also survive, they are Mrs. Bertha Insley, Mrs. Carrie Hobbs, and Mrs. Gertrude S[m]ullen all of Fruitland; and Mrs. Louise Jones of Crisfield. A brother Oscar Jones also lives in Eden. There are several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the Hill and Johnson Funeral Home here with the Rev. Ralph L. Minker Jr., pastor of the St. John's Methodist Church in Fruitland, officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 7:30 p.m. to 9 tomorrow night. Henry married Ruby Pearl Hilghman, daughter of Theodore C. Hilghman and Nonie (?). (Ruby Pearl Hilghman was born in 1890 in Wicomico Co., MD, died on 29 Jan 1975 in Wicomico Co., MD and was buried about 01 Feb 1975 in St. John's Methodist Church Cemetery, Fruitland, Wicomico Co., MD.)
